Orchid ID: Paphiopedilum Nathaniels Florence Gracia

Imagine if you can compile two really gorgeous orchids, and have something that will all of their beauty and make it easier to grow, less fussy and just unique. Well, you can always find a Paphiopedilum Nathaniel's Florence Gracia. This rare primary hybrid was created by the well known Don Nathaniel Lai, and as you may guess there is a whole series of Nathaniel's orchids, and they usually have really nice and unusual qualities. This lovely hybrid comes from crossing Paphiopedilum rothschildianum and Paphiopedilum leucochilum giving it a much smaller stature and really nice colors. As many of you may know both of the parents come from two totally different environments and belong to two separate sub types of paphiopedilum orchids. Not only that they difference in size and bloom is like night and day. Orchid ID: Paphiopedilum Wossner Kolarmi

This primary hybrid reminds me of a something very exotic in color. It has this deep and very saturated yellow with additional bronze/reddish stripes and pattern. All in all it gives it a look of a oriental jewel. Something you would expect to see growing in the gardens of a Sultan or a Maharadja, Arabia or India, your pick. It's parents Paphiopedilum armeniacum and Paphiopedilum kolopakingii are two distinctive species with very different blooms and foliage, they also thrive in different conditions and what is most important the first is a rather small to compact sized orchid, the second tends to be on the very very large side. They both come from totally different environments as Paph. kolopakingii grows in Borneo in the environment of mountain river gorges with a lot of mist. Paph. ameniacum on the other side can be found in continental China on rocky floor of the mountain woods. And they get plenty of moisture from the winds. The crossing gave the child plant a bett...
