Orchid ID : Paphiopedilum Rosy Dawn

On rare occasions, the crazy men who hybridize everything with everything in the orchid world will create something remarkable. Something the result will be astounding. You have the marvelous american hybrid style with the big and color heavy flowers in white, red and yellow or green and you have the beauties with paphiopedilum rotschildianum as a parent somewhere on the line, and then we have Paphiopedilum Rosy Dawn. The swan. I call it the swan as it remind me of one, you will notice this at one point too probably. The humble child of Paphiopedilum 'Astarte' X Paphiopedilum 'Gwen Hannen', both of them in pale colors. This pristine white orchid with a touch of vanilla or rose pink in the center with the characteristic frecles is a charmer indeed. Depending on the time of the bloom - as paphiopedilum hybrids are know to have a summer and winter bloom period - the color of the flower will be more pronounced. The winter blooms usually have less pigmentation in them

Orchid ID: Paphiopedilum L'Ansonii

For a very long time, since the beginning of my orchid journey I had always though that there must be an orchid which is more special than any other. I dreamed about it for a long time and then I learned there is one, it was so special it was the beloved orchid of Queen Victoria, it was so wanted it was called gold of the orchid world. It was the king. Paphiopedilum rothschildianum. And thus, I dreamt of the day when I will have the chance to meet the king in person. And although I still didn't get the chance i meet his son. There is no other feeling of bliss and awe when you are faced with a beauty that had stood the test of time. Paphiopedilum L'Ansoni had been first registered in 1898 by S.Low. It's parents, the elite bunch are 25% paphiopedilum stonei, 25% paphiopedilum superbiens and the rest 50% goes to paphiopedilum rothschildianum. This beautiful hybrid has a lot of characteristics coming out from all of their parents, paph. superbiens passed the  purple

Orchid ID: Paphiopedilum Lippewunder x glaucophyllum

Well grab yourself a chair and let me tell you a story. As you can guess it's about a paphiopedilum orchid, what else. This guy was sent to me as a Paphiopedilum American Hybrid, and imagine my surprise when I didn't see the spotting on the bud when it formed and then the oil pain orange and amber when it finally cracked and you could gaze inside. This was the most wonderful mistake i had in my life, this was beautiful and irreplacable. The Paphiopedilum Lippewunder x glaucophyllum is a child of the famous Lippewunder hybrid which was awarded several times in the history and the lovely glaucophyllum species. Both of them have strong traits and great qualities. The foliage is really nice and shiny, the leafs don't grow that long however they are very curved and fleshy so be prepared to fight with them a few times to move them in a better angle. It has the vigorousnes of glaucophyllum, the strenght to grow a lot of new roots and fans in a very short time
