Phalaenopsis Frontera

Sometimes, very rarely you can find a real gem in your standard boring plant nursery or supermarket.

One of these gem's is Phalaenopsis Frontera, which is an absolute marvelous plant. Usually when growers manipulate the plant genes the results can be plain boring, or just a massive mish mash of all the colours and patterns you can find, some of them just being plain horrible and I have seen plants that their colours because of the bad cross, looking like a mix of ketchup and mustard - yes, that's a bad colour on a plant.

Unfortunatelly for this beautiful it's very hard to find any information on when it was registered and released to public trade.


However, the plant has a lot of rare and beautiful qualities. Firstly, it's very vigorous and it blooms with long and flower heavy spikes. The flowers can also carry a sweet honey fragrance it the plant is happy.

As a typical complex Phalaenopsis hybrid its very easy to care for taking intermediate home temperatures and liking to be kept in a good wet/dry balance.


Also the pattern on the flowers can vary and if you come accross this plant make sure to spend some time making a good choice and picking the pattern that pleases you most. Furthermore, there is a difference between summer and winter flowers. So you can enjoy a plant that will suprise you with a lovely difference depending on the season.

Aliceara (Degarmoara) Winter Wonderland 'White Fairy"

I heard about this orchid "it grows like a weed but blooms more beautiful than anything I have ever seen", and I must agree with this term as this Aliceara belongs to the three most beloved by myself orchids. Someone can say it's white and plain, but it's not purely white or plain or definitely not boring. Aliceara (Degarmoara) Winter Wonderland 'White Fairy" has it's parenthood in a cross between  Bratonia Cartagena x Oncidium. Gledhow . Banfieldara Gilded Tower 'Mystic Maze'

There is perhaps this one orchid you like, well not entirely like. It's more like a curious unconscious attraction, but you are not sure why and not really sure if you would want this plant.You saw it somewhere online, or at your friends or at a show and still there is plenty other orchids you would rather buy than this.
