Many times I have said that if you cross two paphiopedilum parents which are distinctive in different way you may get a really charming cross.
And soo, in this case with Paphiopedilum Deperle crossing Paphiopedilum Primulinum and Paphiopedilum delenatii was awarded with a beautiful child.
Paphiopedilum Deperle comes in two colour variations as does its parents. There is a Deperle Alba cross and a Pink cross. Both being very unique and beautiful in it's own individual way.
However, dear reader please remember that when I say that there are two versions of this orchid, it doesn't mean you will get a 100% clear white or pink flower. Why? Because nature is amazing and the influence of light can make a lot of changes.
This paphiopedilum enjoyes good light, however keeping it in a shadier location will most definately cause the flower to be darker. So pristine white flowers will have splatches of rosy pink and the pink will be touching in vinicolor. However if the pink is moved to bright light then it will have more white in the flower.
As I said above this guy likes brighter light, therefore you will need to pay attention to its potting mix as they like it moist and sun can cause water to evaporate much quicker. Therefore invest in a good potting mix, charcoal with bark and coconut husks sounds fine and will provide a good environment.
Remember about feeding, once every other week when in growth and three weeks out of four when in bloom. Flushing through with clear water is very important also to get rid of the salt residue.
If you want to get it then you may have to do a bit of a digging because they used to be very popular at one point but this popularity has faded and finding them has become harder and harder.
